The Intended Parent Study

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever

to have your heart go walking around outside your body."

~Elizabeth Stone

The purpose of this study is to examine the many ways people think about and want to create their future families.

The original survey was collected in 2016, the second survey 2017, and the third survey in 2018. Each part of the study consisted of an online survey that took approximately 20-40 minutes to complete. To qualify for the study, you had to be over the age of 18, childfree at the beginning of the original study, and want to have children in the future.

Each part of the study was approved by the Pennsylvania State University Ethics Board #STUDY00001200 (original), STUDY00007040 (second survey), & STUDY00010116 (third survey).
